about
A little about me.
I have dedicated my career to health care for over 25 years. I've worked in health clubs and wellness centers, consulted for hospitals and have spent over 10 years as a senior executive in digital health/app companies. I am a 30+ year cancer survivor and have had to navigate the traditional medical and complementary health care system as a patient, and later in life, as a primary caregiver to my mother who battled cancer as well. I understand patients, clients and members of health related services, as well as, those who serve them. I've been on all sides of this equation. I know how overwhelming your options are plus the confusing and conflicting messages about how to achieve your health, fitness and wellness goals. I have experienced and seen, first hand, the challenges that most people face just to be well.
I get it.
And although there are more programs and services available there are still rising rates of chronic disease, pain and emotional distress. Something is wrong. People are searching for answers and it has been my passion to find ways to help.
I am a National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach and a graduate of the Duke University Integrative Health Coaching program. I have additional certifications from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, Results Life Coaching (now the NeuroLeadership Institute) and Sivananda Yoga. I am also a certified cancer support specialist by the American Cancer Society and have volunteered to support newly diagnosed breast cancer patients.
In addition to my full time career, I have been in private practice for over 15 years with a concentration on health coaching, wellness education and personal development. I do speaking engagements, conduct workshops and have written for Prevention.com, Nutrition Business Journal, Club Success and numerous other industry-specific publications.
After all of these years I have one strong belief when it comes to navigating the path to health and well-being: listen to your own voice first. An overwhelming number of resources are available once you know which ones to choose. This is how I support my clients. I integrate a 3-prong approach to support, educate and empower you for meaningful change toward focused goals.
We start with understanding what areas are feeling out of balance based on the Duke integrative coaching Wheel of Health. These include physical and emotional areas of your life that provide a foundation for good health and wellbeing. It helps as a guide to establish a strong personal vision followed by a focused goal. From there we work on beliefs and patterns that might be keeping you stuck - - navigate possible resources - - and move forward with action plans and accountability until you achieve, modify or redefine your goal.
Whether you are seeking support for healthy habits, facing health challenges or wanting to work on other personal development/life goals, I would love to work with you privately or invite you to join one a virtual program. I promise to meet you with genuine understanding, compassion and always a little bit of humor along the way!
